Marine Machinery Mechanic

This vacancy is for a WG-5334-10, Marine Machinery Mechanic located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), Base Boston, Naval Engineering Department, Industrial Production Facility (IPF) South Portland in South Portland, Maine.

You will serve as a Marine Machinery Mechanic and be responsible for executing independent and small work crew performance of multi trade preventative maintenance and repair of small boats, along with support of new or replacement equipment installations. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Removing machinery from boats, ships, or stations, for repairs or modifications.

Disassembling, repairing, and testing machinery such as marine diesel engines, both mobile and stationary. Disassembling all components of engines such as cylinder heads, fuel systems, lubrications systems, cooling systems, blowers, and turbochargers. Installing, adjusting, setting, repairing, and/or replacing engine controls, governors, unloaders, safety valves, steering gear and rudders.
