Industrial Equipment Mechanic

This Industrial Equipment Mechanic position is located in the Operations Section of Facilities Management Service at the Ft. Meade Campus of the VA Black Hills Heath Care System (VA BHHCS). The primary duties and responsibilities of the Industrial Equipment Mechanic are to maintain, repair and service building service equipment and facility vehicles.

Major duties and responsibilities include: Uses standard test procedures to trace and locate problems Overhauls and repairs a wide range of makes, models, and types of mechanical, electrical, and mechanical/electrical equipment Makes exact adjustments, on precise timing of gears, alignment of shafts, and adjustments of contact points and electrical motor parts Responsible for maintenance and minor repair of facility vehicles Installs and repairs complex equipment and machinery. Involving PLC controls and series connected machines Examine and troubleshoot machinery and equipment to determine the extent of repairs required, materials or parts needed, and to estimate the time required to complete repair interpret and apply the requirements contained in technical manuals, shop directives, multi-view blueprints, and other documents in determining critical dimensions and key reference point Dismantle, move, and relocate various types of industrial plant machinery and equipment or install new machinery and equipment Other duties as assigned Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00am-4:30pm Compressed/Flexible Schedule: Compressed schedule available Position Description Title/PD#: Industrial Equipment Mechanic/PD202630 Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not Authorized The VA Midwest Health Care Network advocates for a Whole Health System of care in each of the Medical Centers.
