Job description

This position is located at Fort Hall Service Unit, Fort Hall, Idaho. The incumbent directs the total health care delivery system of the service unit and is fully accountable for managing all health care activities. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R.

37.5 (2021).

Develops and implements both long- and short-term strategic plans and policies. Manages both clinical and administrative subordinate managers and supervisors. Responsible for Service Unit compliance with fiscal policies of the Indian Health Service (IHS). Responsible and accountable for appropriate obligation of advanced funds and directingand managing the overall fiscal/budget activities of the Service Unit. Guides facility-wide participation in the formulation of current fiscal year plans for the expenditure of funds, and for the estimation of budget needs.

Leads in developing and formulating sound personnel policy and programs. Provides advice and guidance to subordinate supervisors on their personnel management considerations. Collaborates with the Clinical Director in the formulation, supervision and Integration of the administrative activities inherent in the professional programs.

Responsible for establishing and maintaining effective communication with recognized leaders of tribes served with the Service Unit. Responsible for the Service Unit contract health program. Establishes and maintains contact with professional, civic and governmental groups and individuals for the purpose of promoting better public relations and understanding of the institution is problems and the total health program of the hospital and Service Unit. Responsible for the Service Unit preventive health and community outreach/health education programs. Utilizes the principles of Total Quality Management throughout the management and clinical delivery of the Service Unit.

Ensures that Service Unit health care delivery system change as the National standards change.
