Job description

This vacancy is for a WG - 4749-8,Maintenance Mechanic Worker located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, CG ACADEMY PUBLIC WORKS SECTION in NEW LONDON, Connecticut.

You will serve as a Maintenance Mechanic Worker and be responsible for responding to fire alarms, security alarms, and emergencies (electrical failures, water leaks, floods, equipment failures, etc.) when standing 1st or 2nd shift watch. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Cleaning such components as heat exchangers, lube oil coolers, evaporators, boiler tubes, etc. Cleaning, lubricating and maintaining the tools and equipment of the various trades.

Performing routine preventative maintenance on HVAC equipment such as air handlers, fan coils, condensing units, pumps, and air compressor. Performs routine preventative maintenance and adjusts equipment controls such as temperature sensors, thermostats, and leak detectors.
