The VA Eastern Oklahoma Health Care System is currently recruiting for one (1) Social Worker within Mental Health who will be responsible for the management, coordination and provision of social work services on the inpatient psychiatric unit.
Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Other duties may include but are not limited to: Work with Veterans and family members from various socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, education, and other diversified backgrounds utilizing counseling skills. Participates in the treatment of all Veterans on the inpatient psychiatric unit regardless of socioeconomic, cultural, ethic, education or other backgrounds. Assesses the biopsychosocial functioning and needs of Veterans and family members and formulates and implements a treatment plan identifying a Veteran's problems, strengths, weaknesses, coping skills, and assistance needed.
Conducts psychosocial assessments and participates in developing the treatment plan in conjunction with Veterans, families, caregivers and multidisciplinary staff, under the clinical supervision of an LIP. Implements treatment modalities in working with individuals, families, and groups to achieve treatment goals. This requires judgement and skill in utilizing supportive, problem solving, or crisis intervention techniques.
Identify problems, strengths, weaknesses, coping skills, and assistance needed. Complete Comprehensive Suicide Risk Evaluation (CSRE) and safety planning, under clinical supervision. Facilitation of discharge planning.
Provides individual, family and group counseling under the supervision of their clinical supervisor. Provides case management services to Veterans. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships and communicates with Veterans, staff, and representatives of community agencies.
Provide consultation/education to Veterans and families on community resources, advance directives and VA benefits. Acts a liaison between VA and community resources. Utilizes a fundamental knowledge of medical and mental health diagnoses, disabilities, and treatment procedures, including acute, chronic, and traumatic illnesses/injuries; common medications and the effects/side effects; and medical terminology. Demonstrates fundamental knowledge of medical and mental health diagnoses as evidenced by active participation in clinical supervision and treatment team meetings.
Document social work interventions in the electronic health record and will utilize appropriate handoff when transferring patient care. Other duties as assigned. Prepare paperwork for court under the direct supervision of an advanced practice clinician.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade). Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child. Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
