This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional The Social Worker MHICM should possess a working knowledge and experience in use of medical and mental health diagnoses, disabilities, and treatment procedures including acute, chronic and traumatic illnesses, common medications and their side effects, and medical terminology. They are responsible for: Clinical Functions: - Must have an ability to establish and maintain effective therapeutic relationships with Veterans in the MHICM Program and their families. works with Veterans and their families who are experiencing a wide range of diverse medical, psychiatric, emotional, behavioral, and psychosocial problems. - Must, under supervision, complete thorough psychosocial assessments to determine the psychosocial functioning and needs of Veterans and their families.
- Must actively participate as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and actively participate through collaboration with Veterans and family. - Must possess a working knowledge and experience in use of medical and mental health diagnoses, disabilities, and treatment procedures, including acute, chronic and traumatic illnesses, common medications and their effects/side effects, and medical terminology. - Must facilitate continuity of care by collaborating and providing consultation, with supervision, to the referring interdisciplinary treatment team to promote appropriate treatment and rehabilitation in discharge planning. - Must serve as a liaison between Veterans and/or their families and VA and community resources in order to ensure thorough delivery of services. - Must possess knowledge and ability, under supervision, to implement treatment modalities, to provide social skills training, to provide patient education, and to provide counseling and/or supportive groups for Veterans and families.
Administrative Functions: - Is responsible for supporting the mission, policies, and procedures of the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), the appropriate Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN), and the facility. - Is willing to serve on committees, work groups, and task forces at the facility as deemed appropriate by the supervisor and Chief of Mental Health Service. - Is mindful of keeping their supervisor apprised of problems and recommended solutions to problems encountered in the incumbent's area of responsibility.
- Is responsible for furthering one's own professional growth through continuing education and for ensuring continuing education appropriate to the area of assignment. - Is able to demonstrate knowledge and skill in the use of software applications for drafting documents and data management as well as other computer systems in use by the VHA. - Is able to maintain a level of productivity and quality consistent with the complexity of the assignment and consistent with Social Work standards, Joint Commission standards, CARF standards and facility standards.

Learn more Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of existing pay, higher or unique qualifications, or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade). Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year). Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience. Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66. Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Telework: Not available.
