This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application.

Located in the Rogue Valley, White City allows easy access to Metro-area of Medford while remaining engrossed with nature. White City is an unincorporated community in Jackson County, Oregon, in the Rogue Valley. It is about nine miles north of Medford and 34 miles north of the California border.

The Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program Physician Assistant provides direct patient medical care and consultation to a broad spectrum of patients within the Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (MHRRTP) in Southern Oregon Rehabilitation Center & Clinics (SORCC).
The PA applies professional diagnostic methods to a full range of general medical problems, assesses patients for intake, and while patients are in treatment with the MHRRTP. Knowledge in assessment and treatment of general medical conditions is required. Coordination with other clinics and facilitating ongoing primary care is expected. Function and Scope of assigned duties: Applies diagnostic methods to evaluate and treat a wide range of general medical conditions.
Conducts intake assessments and manages patient care during participation in the MHRRTP. Performs screening exams, admission histories, and physical examinations. Assesses, diagnoses, and treats inpatient medical conditions.
Coordinates care with primary care and specialty clinics to ensure continuity. Arranges or consults with specialty providers as needed. Screens and triages acute medical complaints to appropriate levels of care. Collaborates with medical and mental health providers for integrated treatment.
Orders and interprets laboratory, radiology, and diagnostic tests. Prescribes and monitors medications, adjusting for effectiveness and side effects. Documents clinical care according to required standards.
Works under supervision of the Medical Director with support from a collaborating physician. Role Responsibilities and Accountability: Completes admission histories, physical exams, admission orders, discharge summaries, and aftercare plans. Conducts prescreening evaluations for medical clearance into the program.
Manages and coordinates ongoing care for assigned patients, including diagnosis and treatment planning. Provides consultation to healthcare team members to support integrated care planning. Screens and triages urgent medical concerns.
Orders diagnostic tests, labs, and ancillary services. Prescribes and monitors medications. Admits and discharges patients in collaboration with a physician.
Addresses ethical issues, participates in ethical consultations, and ensures patient confidentiality. Maintains accurate, timely documentation in compliance with EHR and service standards. Follows clinical policies, including risk assessment, safety protocols, and access standards.
Meets expected clinical workload and performance standards. Administrative Responsibilities: Assists in program design, development, and implementation of clinical services. Follows operational policies and procedures set by leadership.
Participates in program evaluation and quality improvement initiatives. Coordinates with other healthcare programs to support integrated services. Complies with performance measures and supports organizational goals.
Adheres to administrative policies, including leave, training, and required tasks. Attends and participates in meetings with leadership and staff. Participates in competency reviews (OPPE).
Maintains knowledge of and compliance with Joint Commission standards. Ensures protection of sensitive patient and employee information per regulations. Follows accreditation standards, including CARF requirements.
