Medical Records Technician (Coder/Audit/Training)

About the Position This position is located in Tacoma, Washington. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Advanced in hire may be authorized.

Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.

Audit retrospectively for accuracy of diagnosis, evaluation and management, procedure codes and documentation.

Analyze the patient medical records to identify inaccurately coded services in accordance with federal coding regulations and guidelines.

Collaborate with the coding manager and Patient Administration Department Head, plans, schedules, and performs encounter audits to monitor performance and ensure lasting improvement.

Prepare reports of findings and recommends staff education and training on accurate coding practices and compliance issues to maintain coding accuracy.

Interact closely with physicians and other health care providers to ensure compliance with documentation requirements and to improve quality in the clinical coding process.

Provide monthly performance and progress reports addressing all task area activities and levels of accomplishment to Coding Manger and Patient Administration Department Head

Develop programs and plans for orienting and training medical and ancillary services staff in basic coding techniques and requirements

Review and code medical records. Perform diagnosis and procedure coding. Assign CPT procedure codes
