As a Wildland Firefighter (Prevention) - Direct Hire Authority your duties will include but are not limited to the following: Plans and implements wildfire prevention and mitigation programs and plans. Plans, drafts, and implements fire restriction orders based on fire risk and environmental factors. Plans and administers fire prevention and Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) based fuels reduction projects. Represents the fire unit and collaborates with community organizations and interest groups regarding fuels reduction and fire prevention. Serves as Fire Prevention and Patrol during high fire danger on the local unit.

Establishes and maintains a relationship with cooperating agencies regarding wildfire prevention and mitigation programs. Educates the public about the ecological principles and benefits of wildland fire and their relationship to the mission of the organization. Educates local communities on potential wildfire threats.

Acts as initial attack Incident Commander on the local unit.
