The Supervisory IT Specialist Area Manager is located in the Office of Information and Technology, End User Services (EUS) Districts. The Supervisory IT Specialist Area Manager provides leadership and resource management (finance, human, and acquisition), leading the development and implementation strategy required to manage IT End User Operations.
Major Duties The Area Manager oversees the day-to-day operations, services, maintenance and security for all customers within their immediate geographic area. The Area Manager has direct responsibility for support services and delivery for all VA customers (regardless of VA business line) within their immediate area and collaborates closely with partners in the Infrastructure Operations and Command Center Operations divisions to deliver full service and total ticket management for area VA IT end users. Provides management, supervision and services for Area Network Operations, Operations Support, Systems Integration, and Systems Design.
Responsible for IT Operations Maintenance, Information Assurance and Security Management, Resource and Personnel Management, and IT Training. The Area Manager aligns EUS OIT Capital Assessment Planning (CAP} with the Mission of the Department of Veterans Affairs. Develops & monitors GRC Assessments, Security Control Assessments (SCA}, OIG FISMA/FISCAM Audits that protects the NIST confidentiality, integrity, and availability (CIA} of the organization's information, information systems, and networks in accordance with policies, procedures and control techniques, and agency and federal regulations.
Oversees technologies, processes and resources across the area to deliver specific business outcomes and combines IT and non IT resources to deliver area-wide business outcomes, implements key performance indicators and metrics to measure the effectiveness of IT support, customer satisfaction, and service delivery. Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work; assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration and the difficulty of the work and the capability of the employees; evaluates work performance of subordinates. Some work may require walking and standing in conjunction with travel and to attendance at meetings and conferences away from the work site. Some employees may occasionally be exposed to uncomfortable conditions in such places as research and production facilities.
