Job description

Joining the Secret Service's Office of the Deputy Director, Operational Medicine Division offers the opportunity to contribute to the agency's emergency medical operations. In this role, you will develop and implement medical contingency plans, conduct site assessments, ensure preparedness for medical emergencies, and integrate emergency medical operations into mission-critical activities.

The selectee will serve as a Protective Medicine Specialist in the Operational Medicine Division (OMD) developing and managing tactical medical response programs in support of Secret Service protective and investigative missions. The Protective Medicine Specialist (PMS) delivers advanced emergency medical care and expertise to Secret Service protectees, including former presidents, presidential candidates, and other individuals designated by federal law or presidential authorization. The PMS also provides medical support during National Special Security Events (NSSE) and Special Event Assessment Rating (SEAR) events and may be embedded with tactical teams, protective details and other investigative units as operational needs require.

Typical work assignments include: Independently conducting operational assessments of designated sites and facilities to ensure compliance with USSS operational, medical, and safety requirements; identifying vulnerabilities and recommending corrective actions to enhance mission readiness and support protective operations. Perform investigative and medical-focused site assessments to identify vulnerabilities, analyze protective environments, and integrate findings into actionable protective intelligence and operational guidance; ensures compliance with USSS standards and enhances mission safety. Support the planning, coordination, execution, and evaluation of medical protective operations by embedding medical considerations into mission design, developing contingency plans, ensuring resource readiness, and coordinating with protective personnel and partner agencies to optimize medical response during protective events, investigative missions, and special events.
