Pharmacy Technician

About the Position: This position is located at Bassett Army Community Hospital, Fort Wainwright, Alaska. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.

Federal employees in Alaska are currently entitled to receive a 1.49% Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) in addition to the base salary. This is subject to change.

Determine type of substance, strength, dosage, and quantity to be dispensed in accordance with accepted practice and pharmacy standard operating procedures.

Enter prescriptions into outpatient computer system; reviewing profile for allergies, drug/drug or drug/food interactions, and duplicate orders.

Coordinate with prescriber or pharmacist to clarify issues or problems with dosing, interactions, or instructions.

Scan the prescriptions for the filler and checker after typing prescriptions and then fills the prescription.

Visually inspect dispensed medications, verify appropriate medications, and printed label affixed to the container against the original prescription for correctness.
