Law Enforcement Officer (School Resource Officer)

This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, as a Law Enforcement Officer (School Resource Officer) located in Lame Deer, Montana. This is a Bargaining Unit position, for more information see USA Jobs What are bargaining units? Permanent Change of Station (PCS): may be authorized.

As Law Enforcement Officer (School Resource Officer), GL-1801, your typical work assignments may include, but not limited to: Provide law enforcement presence to prevent crimes on school property as well as educate students in substance abuse prevention, and general safety awareness including D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) and Gang Resistance Education and Training (G.R.E.A.T.). Meet with students and provide law enforcement related counseling and guidance, making referrals as needed to other agencies.

Perform the full range of police activities to include investigating, apprehending, arresting, and detaining persons charged with violations of Federal, State, Local, and Tribal laws. Foster an efficient and cohesive program that will build a positive relationship between law enforcement officer and the youth of the community. Respond to calls concerning felonies, misdemeanors, and emergencies; making arrests in cases of crime or misdemeanors and following such arrests to testifying at hearings and trials in Federal, State, local or tribal courts as required.
