The Gallery's Digital Content Strategy and Experience team builds and sustains public-facing digital capabilities for a diverse global audience. The Digital Content Strategy and Experience team is responsible for the strategy, development and delivery of immersive digital products and services, including websites, mobile apps, online games, and in-gallery digital interactives. Duties for this position include: Product Strategy, Vision & Roadmap - Defines and owns the product vision and roadmap for a portfolio of products to ensure all stakeholders have a shared understanding of product objectives, goals and metrics.
Translates institutional goals into clear, actionable product requirements that integrate artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies in ways that feel intuitive and human centered. Continuously evaluates market and technology trends to inform long-term digital engagement strategies. Uses evidence (e.g., user research, analytics) to make product decisions.
Monitors and analyzes key performance metrics to measure the impact of new features and unearth insights about how the products are being used, using the feedback to inform and adapt road maps. Leads prioritization on an ongoing basis by clearly articulating user problems, delivery timelines, tradeoffs, objectives and key results for various initiatives. Product Delivery & Lifecycle Management - Leads cross-functional teams through all phases of the product lifecycle, from concept development and prototyping through launch and continuous improvement.
Translates ideas into actionable product requirements and user stories for designers and engineers. Collaborates with design, content and engineering teams to ensure products deliver measurable public value, delight users and align with accessibility and security standards. Interprets and applies user research, analytics and behavioral data to inform iterative improvements and ensure experiences meet audience needs.
Defines and tracks key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success and impact. Identifies and proactively monitors and addresses product risks. Analyzes market demand and market fit, conducts competitive analysis and guides build vs. buy or reuse approaches.
Tests products at various stages of development to ensure seamless roll outs for our users. Stakeholder Engagement & Cross-Functional Leadership - Serves as the connective hub between creative, technical and content-focused teams, ensuring clarity, coordination and shared accountability across departments. Communicates the product vision and strategy to stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership.
Facilitates effective collaboration across PDE to deliver coherent and impactful public experiences. Shares lessons learned with peers and leaders to help guide digital transformation; keeps abreast of product management best practices and implements them. Vendor & Contract Management - Manages relationships with external design, user experience and software development agencies that contribute to product execution.
Develops scopes of work, oversees deliverables and ensures vendor outputs meet technical and creative expectations. Serves as a contracting officer's representative (COR) and technical point of contact on digital experience contracts, ensuring quality, timeliness and compliance with Gallery and federal standards. Supervision & Product Management Practice - Supervises and mentors a team of product managers focusing on delivering immersive, user-centered digital products for the public. Coaches and mentors staff, helping them develop into capable product managers in their own right.
Develops tools, processes and templates for the growing team. Supports Head of Product in developing processes, tools and templates to standardize product management across the Gallery. Leads and participates in agile sprint meetings: planning, grooming, retros and standups.
External Engagement & Thought Leadership - Engages with cultural heritage, technology and artificial intelligence (AI) communities to promote best practices in AI for digital engagement. Represents the Gallery at conferences, workshops and collaborative projects that advance public engagement through technology and storytelling. Contributes to the Gallery's leadership profile as a forward-looking institution applying AI and emerging technologies to broaden access to art and knowledge.
