Serves as a Senior Budget Analyst for the Human Resources and Professional Development Directorate (HRPD) at the ATF National Academy. The Academy provides comprehensive basic law enforcement and industry operations training to newly hired special agents and industry operations investigators (IOI).
The major duties of the Budget Analyst position include, but are not limited to, the following: Prepares budget justifications and presentations; executive-level briefing materials on the Bureau's financial status; Appropriation Committee hearing materials, transcripts, general statements, etc.; detailed mid-year reviews, financial operating plans, and funding reports. Prepares Bureau requests for apportionment, reapportionment, deferrals, supplementals, rescission of funds, and budget amendments. Monitors all travel commitments, travel vouchers, local travel and other reimbursement vouchers in the Unified Financial Management System (UFMS) and ensures that the UFMS is reconciled and provides oversight on all requisitions and analyzes data in UFMS to identify all financial conflicts requiring resolution.
Reviews, analyzes and edits multi-year budget estimates/requests for accuracy of technical treatment and format, mathematical accuracy, adequacy of supporting narrative, justification, and conformance with budgetary policy. Recommends necessary changes based on authoritative budget knowledge and broad program knowledge. Gathers financial and program data and analyzes progress of assigned programs; evaluates status and presents alternatives and recommendations in problem areas using financial, economic, statistical, and workload analysis techniques.
Provides briefings on the Bureau's financial status, oversees special projects of the Academy, performs special assignments, and prepares reports and associated financial data.
