Accountant (Staff)

About the Position: This position supports the mission of the Financial Operations, J-8, Direct Care Financial Management (DCFM) and is located in JBSA Fort Sam Houston, Texas. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation A relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Leave accrual negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to the Federal service.

Conduct daily examination of various accounting transactions and reports, financial statements, fund balances, and database queries to ascertain accuracy and completeness of financial transactions.

Direct the proper utilization of numerous accounting transaction codes and accounting classifications to activities and DFAS.

Provide training on financial responsibilities.

Assist activity staff on the proper use of GFEBS and related systems.

Participate with senior accountants in representing DCFM in implementation of new or revised DoD financial systems at subordinate installations and activities.

Implement, monitor, and report Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) performance measurements that will aid program managers in carrying out their responsibility to use government resources effectively and efficiently.
